Use to denote nudity/mature subject matter All shapes and sizes.

A 3 minute pose and some 10 minutes.

1 hour.

Interesting to draw a shorter model about 4 foot 10 (after a model almost 6 feet tall last month). 5 minutes up to 15.

Back to the 10 minute poses.

... and an hour.

A watercolour portrait (with a bit of InkTense pencils/blocks). About 2 hours. I need to darken everything, I was building layers but didn't add enough washes.

Some InkTense pencils, 5 minutes each.

Longer drawings. I think these were 1 hour and then 90 minutes.

Three 10 minute poses and a 20 minute pose.

1 hour: I didn't really capture the foreshortening on this.

.. run out of spaces for images so will continue in the next post...

Mostly 5 minutes up to 15 for the seated pose.

Last one an hour charcoal. I need to soften some of the darker shadows, maybe went overboard with simplified shapes.

Scuptures, after three weeks (6 hours).

And after a single session (2 hours) with an interesting stooped pose.

Many thanks for looking

Re: All shapes and sizes.

Excellent work, I can see the structural approach used in some, but all read very nicely and have great solidity and sense of form. I really liked the short model, do not see those too often where I am from. Excellent work all around.

So impressive, Nathan! You have a good handle on the drawing and the watercolour- well, everything really!

High quality stuff as usual. I like the colour sketches particularly and the sculpture of the man bent over his staff(?) is intriguing.

Re: All shapes and sizes.

Thanks Delo. It was interesting to try and capture the difference in proportions of a smaller model versus last month's taller. In general the head was a larger proportion but also the specific model was quite athletic.

Bethany, thanks. I hope you're getting chances to draw the figure.

Thanks David. I think the trick with shorter poses is not to do too much. I remember reading somewhere you should spend at least half the time looking rather than drawing but it is difficult to hold back.

Harry thanks. That sculpture was interesting as the approach had to take into account that although a lot of the lower area was space as I wasn't using an armature I had to work from the top down and just block in the lower area in relief rather than 3d. The tutor liked my approach and was going to use it as an example for the other class he teaches with the same model.

Many thanks Joe.

Thanks Arlene. I tried to darken the portrait and managed to ruin things (I thought I could do this under artificial light and now she looks a bit too orange). I may still have a go at correcting using gouache as the overall drawing seemed OK.

Nathan you seem to have the time worked out well, long pose or short pose you manage to get the whole figure in. I like the 2nd set of the short lady the lines look more confident.
