Untitled so far!

Hi all, would love to hear your comments on this latest piece of mine.
It's mixed media on canvas with acrylic.
Thank you all
Ellen

Re: Untitled so far!

Thanks sixoclock, Actually colour is where I'm having trouble. I love the process of finding various ways to create underlying texture, and I want each piece to be about each time you look you see something new. However when I get to the painting stage it's difficult to decide on colours. I am enjoying working this way at the moment. For this piece I've used Pthalo turquoise, black, irridescent white, and little dabs of alizarin crimson here and there.

Re: Untitled so far!

Even before I saw the closeup, I had the feeling of underwater movement!

Thank you for the color info! I think you're doing a wonderful job picking colors though!!! Really great colors in this piece!!I often have trouble choosing colors as well, so I know the feeling.

Re: Untitled so far!

Thanks Cyndi, a couple of people have said this to me about water. My inspiration come from landscapes, sea, mountains clouds etc. Organic forms of all kinds, so I'm trying to get that feeling across when anyone views my work. All this is new to me, I have been a traditional painter for a little while now (working from photos etc) portraits, cityscapes, but I stumbled upon abstraction quite by accident and I have never felt so good about my art. I feel for the first time I can portray emotion in my work , whereas before I was just copying photos unbeknowns to myself. (If that makes sense). I used to worry about whether people would think it was any good, now the good feeeling I get seems more important.
Colours are something I need to work on. I'm enjoying working with saturated colours at the moment though.
