Lena, thanks for the advice. I'll give it a go.

Re: Stitch in Time September 2019

I finished Luc's socks. I need to wash them to get the stitches more even but here they are:

I have been busy with some renos, we got new storm doors installed which actually fit and close! It was a bit of a hassle since there were problems with deliveries and opened boxes and missing parts.
And a lot of extra running around but it is done.

Lena, the socks are great! Hope Luc likes them. Congrats on getting the storm doors installed.

I am still working on embroidering doll eyes. Round one wasn't turning out how I wanted. So a little more sketching and thinking involved. I think I have a better design and am working with a single strand of embroidery floss rather than two strands. This pair of eyes is already looking better.

Re: Stitch in Time September 2019

One of the things that helped me with doll eyes was a workshop on stage makeup. It was given by a doll maker who also worked in the theatre at a high professional level.
One suggestion was don't ever close the outside corner of the eyes with lines. The minds eye will continue the lines if you don't close them together. Eyes are important for expression and we magnify them in our minds if allowed to do it.
I only accent the inner corner of the lower lid and only to the centre line of the eye, no further.

I have been running around getting ready to leave for my youngest's daughters place. Lots of baking this week to be frozen. Cleaning my rooms, filing stuff.
I finished a shawl of the smelly yarn. It was just usable. I have to block it still.

Re: Stitch in Time September 2019

Lena, thank you so much for sharing doll insights with me. I really appreciate it. Have a safe trip to visit your daughter. The yarn on that shawl is so pretty.

Unfortunately, the doll making had to take a back seat again. Those critters I placed in the Gallery have been selling. I've been stealing them from my online store. And now I need to re-stock the gallery for the holidays and fill my online store back up for the holidays. It's critter crunch time. I'm very pleased that I decided to take a chance with the gallery. I had figured that I would put some critters in there and next year, with no sales, I'd be ending the contract. Instead, I'm actually selling more critter thru the gallery than I am online. Who would have thought? So yeah, onto critter making. I've made good progress on the doll and will be anxious to pick it back up again once the silly season ends.

Re: Stitch in Time September 2019

Ah the holiday season! Hell for people who sell things.

I finished my skirt and the pocket belt. I will try to get some snaps online. The skirt is a reproduction of the favourite that died except it is in flannel. Oh so cosy! (it snowed a bit last night so my focus is on cosy right now)

The rest of the time I have spent on preparing to go away.

Re: Stitch in Time September 2019

Lena, so happy to hear you finished your skirt and pocket belt. That'll be great for your upcoming trip.

Unfortunately, I've not really started the critter marathon. I ended up with a virus. The first couple of days I was trying to soldier on. However, when the fever showed up, I quit and spent the days resting. It was a weird one. Hit me in the digestive tract. I could do liquids, tea, water, broth. But I couldn't do solid food. So now that the fever is gone, I'm weak from the fasting. It'll probably take me a couple of days. On top of that, I sold a couple of critters from my online shop, adding to the list of critters to be made. When it rains, it pours.
