Re: Jaguar Cubs (pastel forum)

I've been away from wet canvas for quite awhile and have really been missing out on all these wonderful paintings. This is awesome Kerry. I went to click on page 3 and there isn't one yet. Wonderful composition. They look so alive and warm. Its obvious how you love doing them. It shines through. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Jaguar Cubs (pastel forum)

Okay another quick update:

Things are ticking over quite nicely and I'm pleased with the progress of this painting at the moment, the cub on the left-hand side is far from finished though with highlights that still need to go on, not to mention the paws and body that need alot of work yet, but I'm glad to say that I am definitely still enjoying this particular journey as I hope you are too

Thankyou once again for dropping in & bye for now

These little cats are wonderful! Love them all -- this is almost finished and going so great. You know what you're doing and need no advice, it's just splendid!

Re: Jaguar Cubs (pastel forum)

Kerry,
This is beautiful. I've followed your progression of the cubs with enthusiasm. I would love to see a video of this.
I noticed on your website you use some Velour to paint on. Is this done on velour? If so what pastels do you use?

Re: Jaguar Cubs (pastel forum)

Thanks guys for the ongoing tide of enthusiastic encouragement!!!

Carolyn yes this piece is on velour, I dont really use any other surface these days as it suits not only my techniques but my subjects too.

As for pastels:

Soft Pastels -
Ashby
Unison (very soft)
Winsor & Newton
Daler & Rowney
Sennelier (very soft & expensive)
Schminkes (very soft & expensive)
Rembrandt (quite hard)

Hard Pastels (Pastel Pencils) -
Carbothello (my favourite at the moment)
Faber Castelle Pitt Pastels
Daler & Rowney
Conte
Derwent
(I only really use pastel pencils for detailing work)

I hope that this information has helped, any questions please feel free to PM me if you want.

Thanks again for dropping in & bye for now

Re: Jaguar Cubs (pastel forum)

Dear Kerry!
I.m stunned.. They really look very touchable/strokable. Sure their mother has lots of fun going on "at home"
I really love the way you bring pastells to life!!
And I m looking forward to the movie (!!!!) of "how Kerry does fur" or "how Kerry does animals"
(make it a looooong one, I could watch your pictures for hours..)
greetings from the nightshift, Veronika
