Paint Along 63 LIVE: Fill Your Paintings with Light
Try an experiment: take a photo of the pigments on your palette and convert it to a grayscale. You may be surprised to see how few pigments are a light value. That’s why, if colors are not mixed and then applied in ways that bring out light, you end up with a dull painting. This workshop series shows you how to bring out the sunlight using the power of the brilliance in your pigments and value contrasts.. You will also learn effective tips that use composition to maximize the illusion of light.

You will learn:
  • Mix bright colors correctly to avoid losing saturation
  • Limit areas of light so they have more impact
  • Use skies to bring out luminosity
  • Mix shades of green like a pro
  • Take advantage of spot lighting

Easy-to-paint subjects include:
  • A stroll down a partly shaded, partly light-filled garden path (oils)
  • Backlit trees in a snowy forest (pastels)
  • Swans floating past cottages in Bavaria (watercolor)
