Thanks sno. (and Boa and K)
I did it for my daughter-in-law to give as a Father's Day present to her dad. She took it round to him and apparently he teared up when he saw it and, after she left, had it hung on the wall before she'd got to the end of the street.

Use to denote nudity/mature subject matter Re: What are you Working on Today?

Progress on this one has slowed down after a rapid beginning. I think I need to stop listening to my studio mates who keep pushing me to try things that just don't work. I was prodded into carrying the floral motif down below... but upon completing the drawing and gold leaf it was obvious that the result was overly convoluted. I even carried the flowers and vines into the central red area... resulting in a need for a lot of sanding and more re-priming.

Some of the floral/vine motif can still be seen here... sanded... but not yet primed over.

I decided to focus on completing the gold leaf in the middle (except for the kneeling girl's halo (Harley) where I'm thinking of some sort of crown of flowers or thorns. Just painting on the adhesive took a good 2+ hours. The application of the actual leaf then took maybe 10 minutes...

I became intrigued with the use of black as employed by Japanese Ukiyo-e artists... especially Utamaro. I haven't used black for the last few paintings (intentionally) but felt this one really called for it. I'll repeat the black below... haven't worked that out yet...

Re: What are you Working on Today?

Wow! And I thought my studio was messy!😱😜
David, very nice painting for the lucky dad😊
Kay, boy that is firey and powerful!🙋🏻
Stlukesguild, I do like the addition of the black it really works!👍
Gary, sorry no spiders for me. I like your dart board though, I'm thinking maybe you could put the spider on your dart board and throw some at it, haha!

I watched this video on glazing and decided to try this with my last painting. I painted the painting with very thinned down oil paint and I think the glazing helped bring it to life😊

Re: What are you Working on Today?

I like the water and sand better after the glazing but to be honest I liked the sky better before.

Re: What are you Working on Today?

Wow, what a difference a simple glaze makes I do both versions.
Cute photo Gary!

Alcohol inks again with bird sketched in Micron 01 black ink, 6x5.

Re: What are you Working on Today?

Thanks so much! It is what you do when an abstract fails. Grab an ink pen and do a line drawing of something on top.

Re: What are you Working on Today?

Today's mixed media work over ink line drawing using Micron 03 pen; bg is an old abstract. I used watercolor, gouache, acrylic and call it Fig Newtons and Grapes.

Thank you Margaret!🙋🏻 What I so appreciate about you is I know I will always get your honest opinion!👍😊
Kay, you are truly creative!!👏 I am always wowed! I am amazed at the difference a glaze can make also. I had tried them before but wasn't doing it properly. It will be fun going forward!

Time to figure out what I'm going to try next😜🙋🏻

Matilda I like the glazing.

Kay
I love the bird and yummy food layout...you have a broad spectrum of subject matters that make for a nice total development as an artist.
