Angry I forgot to draw

Guys,
I started as a self-taught traditional artist and from there I became a graphic designer and eventually a ux/ui and visual designer. The current nature of my job forces me to be quick in designing interface or even digital illustrations (not those which can stand out by themselves, but those which accompany a ui or prototype).
Recently I got to know a digital studio, whose works I admired from the very beginning, looking for an illustrator. I tried my hand before applying and I'm in utter shock. I can't draw anymore! Moreover, every practice session is making me impatient, and sleepy and giving headache. I'm feeling like throwing out all the materials instead of pushing. Now is weekend, and I still have time to practice, but I can't keep up the practice when I join work back again.
I have no idea how to revive back my old skill and keep it from fading again. Any advice or idea or suggestions are warmly welcome.
Thanks.

Re: I forgot to draw

Thing to do is to enjoy your drawing not make it a thing you have to do.
So for the long term get a sketchbook that will fit in your pocket, a propelling pencil and just draw what ever attracts your attention during your normal day. The more you draw the more opportunities to draw will appear.

Dave.

I agree, do some doodling or scribbling or make little boxes or circles and fill them by practicing different strokes, like cross hatching or shading or whatever. Give yourself a break too, it may take a bit of time but it will come back.

Re: I forgot to draw

I've been through (and going through) something similar and honestly the only way I've been digging myself out of it is to simply create. I've started drawing again almost every day for the last couple months and starting to feel more confident again. I don't really think there's any quick way to go about it than practice.

You should have muscle memory in fact from the days when you "did" you just bit rusty probably and just need to get back on the horse so to speak.I agree with another commentor here actualy..this is not in fact what you should be concerned about what you should be concerned about is just not having the drive or passion to draw anymore..that's when you get worried and you are very keen to do it again. I think what happens is we lead lives that do no allow us to be creative anymore instead shuffling about in soul destroying jobs to the point where we forget we are creative beings...so just I would say don't worry about not being able to do it re skill wise as that will come back with practice..somehow you need to re shuffle your life so if you can get your drawing to take priority, have a long hard think about how you can reorganise things to enable you to have some me time as it were with your drawing.
