Hails from South Africa
Re: Different Strokes May 2012 Challenge

Thank you, Chammi, for the lovely ref photo's. The boabab is indeed a very unique tree, it is also refered to as the Upside-Down tree and the legend is that after the Lord made the palm tree and others, the boabab complained a lot, and the Lord got so angry about its moaning that He pulled it out and planted it upside down!
They reach heights of up to 30m/98ft and trunk diameters of up to 11m/36ft. A boabab in the Limpopo Province in South Africa until recently had a circumference of 47m/154ft! Boababs store water inside their swollen trunks, up to 120 000 litres! They don't have year rings for dating, but one tree has been carbon dated at over 6000yrs old!
Happy painting everyone,
Life is a canvas, throw paint at it!
