The F9F Panther was one of the first carrier born, jet fighters flown by the US Navy. The Panther served extensively during the Korean War with both the Navy and the US Marines. Although it was outclassed by the more advanced, swept-wing MiG 15, the Panther held its own until the F-86 Sabre entered the war with the US Air Force. F9F Panthers shot down a total of seven MiG 15 fighters during the war. This print depicts the first Navy jet vs jet kill on November 9, 1950.

June 10, 2018 at 11:34 am #637615Nice Mark . Good combination of aircraft scheme and backdrop.
June 10, 2018 at 1:29 pm #637619That is good ,another aircraft and era not often represented.I assume the success was down to the pilots training and experience from WW2.
June 10, 2018 at 5:51 pm #637616I like it Mark. Reminds me of “The Bridges of the Toko- Ri” with William Holden and Mickey Rooney. I watched that at the movies when it first came out.
June 11, 2018 at 4:36 pm #637620Thanks Len, Neil, Trumper and Gray. I’ve never seen “The Bridges of the Toko- Ri” but there is some nice HD footage of the aircraft scenes from the movie on YouTube.

That’s because they were designed by Humans
Just look at the airliners up until the 90’s, they were all different
Now they all look the same
Computers may be able to work out how to make a more efficient airliner, but they have no imagination
June 11, 2018 at 6:02 pm #637614Awesome job Mark. Can I ask what medium you are producing these in? Are they oldschool airbrush or digital? Thanks

Not to be a pedant but the design of the panther was from the 40s.
