Use to denote nudity/mature subject matter Mermaid and Serpent

Here is a picture I have been working on for some time. I wanted to get it in the mermaid challenge but didn't make it in time. However it is hanging in the North Port Florida Art Society Building as one of the pictures for their open house with a lot of other wonderful artists work. I did however have to draw seashells to cover her breasts for the open house since it is a city building and nudity wasn't allowed. Anyway just wanted to post it here. It is 11x14 on Stonehenge paper. It is watercolor pencil, Prismacolors and Micron .005pen and ink with a pastel background. The closeups really suck and I don't know why the pictures came out yellow. Must have been the lighting. Anyway C&C welcome.

Oh by the way this was based on this painting of Aurora by James Bertrand circa 1823-1887

Re: Mermaid and Serpent

Thank you very much. Yes I wet the watercolor penicls. I put them on first and wash them to give me a base color and to add shading then go over with prismacolor to add some depth.

Sharon, I like this a lot. The composition is attractive, and the details are crisp and slightly photographic.

Very nice work. Lots here to keep the eye moving around the painting.
