Use to denote nudity/mature subject matter From Life -Finally

I have not posted in what it feels a long time now -----I am ecstatic about a couple of life drawing sessions I attended. Bad news though is that because of lack of students it has been postponed until more are interested

Anyway, if anyone lives around the Toronto-Etobicoke area and would like to pay 10$ for a three-hour session with very well chosen models, please contact me to keep these sessions alive!

Please give me your comments to my work here---- I already know I need to economize lines (I think I get better results and am fed up with pentimenti). As these life drawing sessions do not include an instructor, I need to keep on studying Vanderpoel's. Also, did a portrait from a photo (anyone care to venture who it is?). Drawing times varied from 3m, 10m, 20m, 45 minutes.

cheers

I really really like those ... especially the ones from the female torso in the second post onwards. The portrait is outstanding

10$ for 3 hours ? No idea what that is in Euros, but it sounds mighty inexpensive. Unbelievable that you cannot enough folks to go there ... Toronto is a big city isn't it ? There must be more folks interested in life drawing.

Re: From Life -Finally

I liked these both the first round for their expressions and the second round slightly less surprising but then so solid, tough ,direct . Really nice and inspiring. Thanks for sharing this.
Best regards

All is great, but I do love the head drawing and the ones just preceding that one especially that back one.

You have some really nice development here! I'm surprised by how much some people can get done in three minutes. Nice. It sure doesn't look like you're rusty to me. The shaded torso crops are especially !

Nice studies, I hope that life drawing group gets settled in... maybe do some advertising in your local paper? Put up flyers? Start a blog?

Re: From Life -Finally

Some lovely solid work in those last four --- with the portrait being quite special.
$10 a session and a lack of takers !!!!! They must be mad.

Re: From Life -Finally

dustonpaper--- thanks! I think 10$ is less than 8EUR, certainly inexpensive for 3hr. I guess it needs more publicity, although the organizer told me at least 30 people replied to his ad..... but at a maximum only 6 of us showed up.

Sandra--- my wife would not pose for me, but I keep on asking her I intended the portrait to be of Avril Lavigne

Henning- thanks very much for your feedback! I agree completely with your critique.

Carol--- thanks. The head drawing was one of my favorites as well

Jamie--- appreciate your encouragement. Those torsos were surely difficult to crop but in the end I liked the final result.

Lawrence---- thanks. Yep, we have flyers all over the place and they do get seen. It's at the time of showing up where most people drop off....

Geoff-- agreed! I cannot believe they do not see the value on this. As a bonus, parking is not an issue and the organizer always selects models that show on time (and in my mind they are fit or have modeling experience) & we also get coffee & cookies hopefully this group will stay alive.

wanda--- always great to read your comments. Thank you!

Re: From Life -Finally

A little Pentimenti goes a looong way !! :-)

Still the first set of life drawings are really nice! they have that "searching feel of Rembrandt etchings that can be quite lovely. The second set of male figures are a bit less organized ( even with the Pentimenti ..).. Seated, legs-crossed male in first batch I think is working v. well.

The Vanderpoel studies are good. Be careful with the back and her posterior (bum) getting a bit large vertically.. Doing master studies will push ideas into your work and decisions that the master artist makes ( I think you get this - not sure why I am writing it!)..
