Re: August Plant Parade

Thanks, Vivien.

I'm trying to reclaim my home after the huge lotus project, and my husband has gone downhill a bit again, so I don't know. I am trying to get our home ready for the winter snows as well...such are the challenges of my life right now, but I will do what I can. It is my 'break time' when I create. Time will tell. In the meantime, it will be our 27th anniversary on the 14th, and I am grateful we're still together. We were married only 4.5 years when Bob had his stroke. So very grateful!

Blessings and gratitude here in the Northeast corner of the United States...LynneDe

Re: August Plant Parade

Good work tuscanny. I must admit, I have never done a succulent so beaut job and you know I love your fig pic from the wm thread.

Vivien, I have seen this photo before and admired it. I thought it was much too difficult for my standard. Turns out I was right
It all started out as a doodle, rather than I am going to do this …purposeful not! I gave it a border with a dark grey acrylic, because It so lacked something.
I think I got lost a few times with the ref. Ok, more than a few times.
Not hugely a fan of this, but here goes.

WC on a scrap of hp
235 x160 mm (9 x 6.5 inches roughly)

cheers
Merri

Re: August Plant Parade

Nice work on the succulent and the fig Christel. A great variety of green.
Merri, I really like your Hosta leaves. You managed the cool greens and warm greens.

Lengert - thank you. I so admire your work in wm this month... I just have not been on to say it. Your giraffe also.

Re: August Plant Parade

What a lovely succulent plant and figs, too, Christel! You're able to get details down well with the OPs

Merri, your hosta leaves make a nice collection altogether, and this one reads very well. It is much better than you think

Pastels give yours a splendid softness that is unequaled in other media IMO. I love the curves and sensuous feel, Sanlynn, you were able to get with these hostas. The blue edges and water droplet add just the right detail

Here is mine, another succulent prickly pear cactus leaves sans the thorns (have fallen into too many of these in my life ) Size 8x8 watercolor using Fabriano 140 lb CP paper.

I used every yellow and ochre in my palette with every blue and blue grey.

Re: August Plant Parade

Lovely, Kay! I like your peach background. Those prickly pear do have thorns - lots of tiny ones which you can't even see to get out of your fingers. The cows even like to eat the leaves and don't mind the thorns.

Re: August Plant Parade

Thanks Merri, Christel and Kay. I do like pastels but they are so messy. Kay, your prickly pear is so well done and the peach background really compliments it.

Re: August Plant Parade

Christel - Wonderful texture.

Merri - Great rendition of difficult subject.

Sanlynn - This is very well done, esp. water drop.

Kay - Very fresh colors and not a stroke wasted.

Zelda - The lines captured the forms really well. You must have the patience of Job.

Well, I do not paint florals, etc. and this is why. I didn't do any drawing on the paper, and this really shows it. It is watercolor, about 10 x 12. It was from some palms in the Bahamas on the beach sand, but it did not come out well.
