Great job so far It needs more contrast to show the volume , now unless your goal is to make a copy of the photo paint more what the painting needs and make it yours

Without reaching the undemanding stage of copying a photo, Jane will need a while to develop her style. Looking at your amazing website Robert, and your over 26,000 posts here, for Jane starting to go in that direction I am sure will take work and experience beyond her first effort. But she has the right attitude to learn...!

Looking forward to seeing what you have done to this squirrel drawing. Add layers to show the darker areas. If you need to lighten an area, use mounting putty to lift some of the pencil that you have already put down. Just keep on going with it. Have fun.

Kudos to you for posting...I think it is a nice drawing. I agree about the highlights and darker values. Love the pose and reference you chose.
