Re: Where are all the Bob Ross Paintings?

His early paintings on gold pans have gone for thousands. But I like to reread this post to keep me humble:

Thanks redfang, I use watercolours and gouache but I still learnt things from Bob's videos there.

Re: Where are all the Bob Ross Paintings?

I saw a show on YouTube about those paintings. It seems most are owned by a relative/friend. From what I recall, they might just end up in the Smithsonian.

I started painting at about 11 or 12. By 13 (1959), I had already devised a way of painting which is Dead-on stylistically similar to Ross'. (BTW, he ripped off that style from a German guy names Bill Alexander- also on PBS.)

Where have all his paintings gone?
Long time passing
Where have his paintings?
Long time ago
Where have all his paintings gone?
Gone to land fills every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Re: Where are all the Bob Ross Paintings?

A local TV station ran a story about a couple of those gold pans were brought to an antiques shop. They promptly sold to collectors for around $3500 each.

Like Mrs Kowalski asked in the video.....

"Why are you here?"
I ask...
"Why did I watch the video?"
Why did you?

Re: Where are all the Bob Ross Paintings?

I do Bob Ross paintings. I also do mixed media, expressionist etc.
For the most part unless you are one of the lucky few who has managed to find an audience or buyers for expressionist, mixed media etc, the Bob Ross paintings are ones that regular citizens like and might buy.( other than the type of stuff that is purchased to match the furniture or flooring or something like that)
