Wind River- Pastel 11x14 (xpost lands)

I painted this in Pastel a while ago but have recently reworked it quite a bit with some new thoughts about form, edges, and value. I feel they are good improvements-

I feel like walking around the lake and up the snowy trail to see what is on the other side. Your composition, values and edges are working together to draw us in to this beautiful scene Well done, Ken!!!

Thank you Karen- The wilderness of the Wind River was an amazing experience each time I've been- the immense scale and light must be seen to be understood. I appreciate your great comments!

My eyes want to squint with the bright snow! Convincing. Lovely work. I like your soft edges around the mountains. A bit of extra energy and life in those areas. Lovely sky too.

Thank you Christine- The light there is surely brilliant! There are some colors which I've not yet found for distant formations like this, but getting a bit closer each time. Appreciated-

What a gorgeous painting, Ken! You created such a feeling of space and distance and those mountains are enormous! I like the subtle differences between the whites of the snow and the whites of the clouds too.

Re: Wind River- Pastel 11x14 (xpost lands)

Thanks so much Donna! The scale of some mountainous areas in wilderness of the West is simply overwhelming- has to be experienced at least once. I appreciate your great comments-

I love this painting. I wish I lived there! Love the sky, the blue of the shadows in the mountains, the way one's eye is drawn into the scene.
