Re: Cree w/bracelet

Beautiful work, all of it! But, may I ask, why are you using coffee?

Re: Cree w/bracelet

Thanks. I started using coffee to get that aged effect for backgrounds on graphite drawings, and then realized what a great painting tool it is. It takes multiple layers of coffee application to get darks, which requires longer painting time. For me this is good, because it forces me to slow down and plan a bit.

Re: Cree w/bracelet

wonderful work. your style along with the poses you choose, and the coffee, give a great 'antiqued' feel to the paintings.
there is a Brazilian artist who used coffee for a while, then chocolate, sugar.. eventually he made a documentary about going back to Brazil (pretty sure it was Brazil..) and doing work with trash pickers- doing their portraits in recycled trash- pretty interesting
