Re: Welcome to What's On Your Easel......May 2018

Northern lights study, about postcard size. Possibly done but we will see!

Storm painting, biggish for me: 11x9ish? Something like that.

Still in underpainting stages. Grisaille, a bit of cobalt (which doesnít show in the pic) in the darker parts of the cloud and some permanent madder red beneath the cloud so far. Itís gonna get weirder colored later on! Wish I could have done more on the foreground tonite but I donít trust the Permalba White is dry fully.

I am looking forward to seeing the progress on the storm painting, A.M.

I signed this one today, it is finished, unless I see something terribly wrong with it after letting it rest for a few days.

Re: Welcome to What's On Your Easel......May 2018

Moarrr! Haha. We will see if this ends up anywhere good... cobalt violet on the ground, cobalt blue, viridian and a translucent red madder in the sky. I promise the ground wonít remain purple- I just like adding it under yellow umber quite a bit.

Iíve also been fighting with a series that I started in 2015. A friend gifted me with the most awesome, beautiful itsy bitsy teeny tiny frames, three of them. I wanted to do a series of standing stones; the idea of a monumental subject in two inch frames tickled me. Wellllll, unfortunately that is pushing my skills. Iím on my fourth attempt on one, third on the other. There is one Iím satisfied with. Iíve realized the stones MUST be in silhouette, I just cannot render stone that looks correct in a 2Ēx2Ē format! Haha. Iím hoping this will be the final go- I lived with the last ones for a year plus before deciding, yep, I hate them!

This is the finished one.

Re: Welcome to What's On Your Easel......May 2018

I started this one the other day, but had to go back and adjust the values today. I was so worried about going too dark in the mid-hills, they ended up too light. Tweaked the house a bit, now I can move on to the foreground.
