Yes Carol - just reload it

By default, the title is repeated in the keywords if you don't add any to that section/space - so.... any numbered file makes senseless keywords!

Re: RIL Technical Issues/Problems Thread

Hello family! I reported a photo a couple of weeks ago for copyright infringement and it is still appearing in the library. The photo appears on page 2 of in rural bridges and is posted by Art_Angel, titled "bridge". I hold the copyright to this photo and posted it myself to the library in 2005. (See most popular photos - rural bridges). I don't mind folks using this photo for artistic purposes, but for Art Angel to post it as if it were her photograph... well, as flattered as I am...it isn't right.

Help!!

Re: RIL Technical Issues/Problems Thread

Hello Grunge, we have a problem with the reporting of the images in the RIL. We have no idea where the reports are going at the moment.

There is also another issue as sometimes the RIL has assigned images to others as well as crediting you with the image. This isn't the first time this has happened. And, in actual fact, we had a different photo assigned to 3 different people (one of them being me)....go figure. This might have occurred when we did the overhaul of the RIL, not sure at this stage but when these situations are brought to our attention, they are dealt with. With your image she "apparently" uploaded in March 2007. This was well before we did the overhaul, so I have no idea what went on. The RIL is being looked at by F+W and we are hoping that not too far down the road, these sorts of issues will not happen and that the RIL will be more robust.

OK. I deleted her photo but as the image was a direct copy and tied to yours somehow they were both deleted. This means that she did not upload this image but somehow a copy became assigned to her. I apologize that your image was deleted. Would you please upload it again?

Re: RIL Technical Issues/Problems Thread

I'm not sure if I can reload it. I had a computer stolen from me a year or so ago and that file may have been on that laptop...I'll have to check and see if it is on our stinky basement pc.

but in any case...Thanks so much for taking care of this for me! I do appreciate it.

Re: RIL Technical Issues/Problems Thread

Grunge, again I am sorry about your image. If you find it please upload it.

I am sure there are more of these sorts of situations out there in the RIL. It can be quirky at times not to mention the ghost that seems to inhabit the program

Re: RIL Technical Issues/Problems Thread

I thought the first time I looked at this thread and then looked at the picture it was this one:
http://www.wetcanvas.com/RefLib/show...79484&cat=3534

It's on the second page of the rural bridges. It's called "Bridge".

The file name on it is 9_9_07_066.jpg
It says it's posted by Grunge.
/s/Confused by file names in the RIL!

Re: RIL Technical Issues/Problems Thread

This one is also titled "Bridge". It was posted in 2005 by Grunge. The other one was posted in 2007, it looks like.

Kind of hard to tell pictures apart with generic names.... best of luck finding the other "bridge"...

Re: RIL Technical Issues/Problems Thread

Mmmm. We've asked posters to give suitable titles to photos rather than a number or an individual's name - can't search by a number!
But we cannot go through all the pics to give titles where none has been given, so although 'Bridge' may be a generic title, it's a lot better than a file number!

Re: RIL Technical Issues/Problems Thread

Maureen, ejputi has the wrong end of the stick here. Unfortunately, as I stated a couple of posts back it became deleted. Therefore none of the images shown here regardless of their title was the image in question. For all intents and purposes given the title "Bridge" is adequate. What else would you call it?

Re: RIL Technical Issues/Problems Thread

I admit I do have quite a few bridge photos and they are probably nearly all named "bridge" or bridge in the woods, or something like that. I'm just not that creative when it comes to names. Sorry. but in anycase, if I find that photo I'll definately download it again.

Re: RIL Technical Issues/Problems Thread

Carol - I was actually agreeing with you!

Theresa - a term like 'Bridge' is infinitely better for a title than a photo number - as some files are still so named.
At least if people use that word in a search, pictures will come up. 'Footbridge' or 'wooden-bridge' etc could narrow it down even more - but don't worrry about it
Keywords which describe the photo are good

As for those duplicates - it's unfortunate that the idiosyncracies of the RIL at present have created them - and misplaced them sometimes - and also that deleting one deletes the others .... just one of those things we have to accept at present.
I'm sure these things will eventually be ironed out though

... "over troubled waters"... just lightening this up a bit.

No worries Grunge, if you find it, you reupload it. As Carol said, the RIL works in strange ways sometimes and we 3 Moderators/Librarians are as baffled by it as you probably were.

I actually think that when WC! went through a site-wide meltdown a few years ago is when several images became duplicated and attributed to not only the original poster, but to several others. We're very happy that you pointed this one out to us though!

cheers,
Judy

Re: RIL Technical Issues/Problems Thread

I am unable to see pictures in the reference library. I get the little squares saying that the thumbnail is not available. When I click on where a picture should be, the odd one comes up, but most show little red 'x's...! I'm wondering if this is my computer? Or is there a problem here...??

Same for me. I also notice I am not logged in when I enter the RIL page but I am when I am in the messageboard area.
