Death and Life

Hi Everyone. I recently heard of parts of Greece where cypress trees are planted on the cemetery plots of the recently deceased and it inspired this painting. It's 9x12 on canvas board.

Re: Death and Life

I like this. A lot of "movement" in the sky. The dead-topped cypress -- that's a very naturalistic touch.

Off topic, but John Hawkes frequently mentions "funereal cypresses" in the novel "The Blood Oranges" -- set in a fictional Mediterranean seashore town, perhaps Albanian.

Very nice. I like the movement in the sky. Great dark trees, and that foreground rock looks really convincing.

Nice. Good impressionist feel about it.

Re: Death and Life

Thank you. I was inspired by van Gogh for this one and I hope a little of his style comes through.
