Splattering liquitex gloss varnish spray

Hi. Followed instructions to the letter. Got a combo of fine mist and splatter on my art. Used sweeping passes, very light coat. Shook well.
Any tips how to prevent this?
Any tips how to save the artwork?

Ps, temp is about 80, mod humidity, currently soaking nozzle in mineral spirits. Yes I have been turning can upside down and spraying 5 sec.
Thanks!

Re: Splattering liquitex gloss varnish spray

Cleaned nozzle. Yes new can of varnish. Seems the initial spray coming out splatters, so I use a test piece of cardboard, press the nozzle, and wait for the splatter to turn to mist. It’s working, a little wasteful, but it works.
As for saving the artwork, it was a one color job so I just sanded the splatters and repainted. Thanks!
