Red panda c&c please

Having a go at fur here. Loving the smoothness of the coloursoft pencils, but may get some Derwent artists for the hard fine detail though.

I think you need to darken everything as it is in the reference. Your drawing is good but it looks like you hurriedly colored in the fur.

Thats had a number of passes over with the pencil and it's not really going any darker now... not sure how I can get more layers on!

Hello Honesty

Your red panda is a cutie!

I like the way you cropped your drawing as compared to the photo. My only thought is the eye of your panda reference doesn't have any white showing, while your painting does....not sure I am being clear?

Getting layers is something I have been learning myself, so I don't feel qualified to help much!

Is your paper, perhaps not supporting your efforts?

Enjoy those pencils

I've been thinking the paper may need changing, but I've got a hard back Daler Rowney pad i need to fill before I'm allowed to buy any more!

Yes i see your point about the eye. Will try filling it in and see if it helps.

I think I'm getting there with layering, but also think I'm happier with a looser muted style as well anyway.
