Love the colors and painting. I had a deep fried grasshopper once...crispy!

I hope to post mine soon.

Hi Merriweather - I like your funny disgusting composition. Sums up the emotion very well.

I will post once I get back from work. Cheers

What a great, disgusting, expressive painting!
Also love the Joy in your Soul!

Now, I have not started, but do have an idea! Need to get to it!

Merri, that's how I feel when watching some people eat! Good idea and good work girl!

Mary, beautiful painting, joy indeed, uplifting (especially after the insect menu!!!)

Merri - cool reaction to the insect food. I recently heard about fly grubs being so nutritional and also being sold as a delicacy!
Mary lovely!
Here is my attempt - I should have left it for another couple of days though, before painting, lol! i used white, black, red and yellow ochre.

Re: August 2019 Different Strokes Challenge

And now for something completely different.

"The Hand of Man"
My emotion was anger. I was also inspired from the climate change discussion over in Debates, with the colour choices and use of palette knife influenced by a dream.
12x18 canvasboard

My 3 colours were:
Cadmium red
Payne's Gray
and a grey mixed from U. blue, burnt sienna and titanium white.
(Hopefully that stays in the rules)

Merri - I can feel the disgust. I am not eating crickets or grubs!

Mary - love your joyful sky.

Christel - I almost feel sorry for the dog, but you have painted it looking kind of menacing and, as my wife remarked, those roosters are well and truly dead.

Re: August 2019 Different Strokes Challenge

Maureen and Colin...Dali had a neat trick. He placed a metal pan next to his favor snoozing chair. He would hold a spoon in his hand as he dozed off. When he relaxed he'd drop the spoon. The noise would wake him and he'd recall the last dream. I've tried it. It works sometimes. Usually however it just annoys me.

Colin - very effective! I just read an article on acid rain - not due to global warming.
Thanks for the comments on mine.

Re: August 2019 Different Strokes Challenge

Yet more anger here, this time bought on by inept, lying politicians...(don't get me started ).

Colours used were cad yellow, cad red, cobalt blue and titanium white and its on A3 paper - an interesting challenge working with such a limited palette

Re: August 2019 Different Strokes Challenge

I still haven't figured out how to relate all the human emotions pertain to landscapes or still lifes. But here's my absolutely inane attempt.

Palette one - Raw umber, raw sienna, unbleached titanium white, red oxide and phthalo blue.

Second palette - cad red, yellow light, cobalt blue, titanium white. (the raw umber and phthalo blue = black is left over from the first palette)

Image combining both palette 1 and palette 2
ANGRY SKY AND HAPPY BALLOONS

The caption for this mess is seen here
