        Painting practice from last weekend from a photograph. As usual, some things I like and things I don’t like. I have a tendency to get distracted by the details early on which seems to create a lot of disconnected elements. I really need to get out and paint from life more, force myself to commit to some brushstrokes.

                Great painting. I love the broad defuse light, you really nailed that. Also great draftsmanship with difficult angles and perspective. The one aspect I don’t buy yet is the bottom of the right hand boat. I feel like the entry, at the bow, does not flow clearly into the keel. Generally I feel like the blue bottom could be slightly better modeled. But really great painting. I strive for this kind of work.

                    I admire how you did not overwork the grass. The concentration is on the boats.
