This is a very good work!

As far as color is concerned, the contrast between warm and cold tones, I mean the color of the fur and those of the fabrics and background, is very efficient for giving vibration to the composition: excellent!

Re: My first oil painting

Thanks Jason and Eveline! Maybe it came easier the first time because I obsessively thought about and read about it for so long! And I always tried to make my watercolors look like oils...so I painted on claybord and used the watercolor very thickly, right out of the tubes mostly. Trying to watercolor on top of paint already laid down on claybord is incredibly difficult to do without lifting the paint underneath. You have to be really really delicate and it takes forever. So oil painting is like the really easy version of trying to make watercolors look like oils!

Re: My first oil painting

Very good especially for a first painting !.... For small appartments you might want to have a look at Graham Walnut and Graham Walnut Alkyd media. The latter is a fast drying alkyd medium with no solvents.......
