Re: Notorious Wild West Outlaws Challenge

Kay - A nice likeness of Kid Kelly. He looks a bit like a book keeper or a grocery shop owner. Not scary looking at all.

Thanks for inviting me here.

Thanks Harry!
There's the Kid himself with that smirky grin and cocky attitude. Love this digi!

Re: Notorious Wild West Outlaws Challenge

John Wilson Vermillion, also known as " Jack" or later as "Shoot-Your-Eye-Out Vermillion," was a gunfighter of the Old West known for his participation in the Earp Vendetta Ride and his later association with Soapy Smith (Wikipedia).

Mixed media in my junk journal using Micron 01 pen, charcoal, watercolor, colored pencils, oil pastels, acrylic markers, alphabet ink stamps, 8.25x5.25, done today. Here's my version of Texas Jack:

C&C welcome

Very nice painting Kay! Me, I'm horrible at people. I don't practice them near enough. How do you keep the proportions right? I'll make one arm longer, one eye bigger. LOL my people look like they've escaped from a freak show.

Re: Notorious Wild West Outlaws Challenge

Thanks Kay and Donald!
I know how to measure proportions of the face and body, Donald, but hardly ever mark them off, just with enough drawing/sketching practice manage to get a fair likeness.

Larry, wow, LOVE your version of Geronimo! He has that piercing eye that is scary. I like how loose your wc looks on this guy.

Re: Notorious Wild West Outlaws Challenge

Hooray! So happy this thread has come back to the surface.

Kay, your John Wilson Vermillion is a formidable-looking man. I love what you put together in your mixed media work - you put so many mediums and ideas and techniques together with serious skill and confidence. Wonderful work!

Larry, I'm so glad you've shared this here. That's a pretty scary expression on Geronimo's face. Good work on the stern set of his jaw. The monochrome works very well for this. Well done!

You all got me inspired now - maybe it's time to draw another outlaw.

Re: Notorious Wild West Outlaws Challenge

Billy the Kid again aka William Bonney, Uniball Vision Elite pen over gesso and red watercolor in junk journal...done today on our trip back to NM. I did do him for InkTober as well for the prompt 'legend', as he is one for sure at least as far as outlaws go
