Arrow Teaching in own home + child-parent question?

Hi. I'm thinking of offering art tuition to one or two students in my own home. Partly to keep costs down, minimise time, and due to transport issues.

Just wondering how others have found this, or made it work? what times or days are best, and what fees are appropriate for adults/children?

I'm also wondering about potential child students. I'm assuming parents would hang about or watch too. how does that work?

Thanks for any help.

I would not. I would not get anywhere near a child with the doors closed in this day and age. I hate to sound dramatic, but it is hideous how some people will automatically think the worst. You are just putting yourself at risk.
If you want to do some in home teaching stick with 18 and above or whatever the age of majority is in your area.

There are sometimes art centers, YMCA type places that you can sign up as a teacher.

Re: Teaching in own home + child-parent question?

I've taught kids and the parents dump and run, which is great, the kids don't need hovering parental distraction. (dance classes don't allow parents, why should artists).
The problem with kids is there schedules are typically busier than their parents and it's hard to get a consistent turn out. (in public or private space).
Teens are the same - i got only two teen sign ups this year (i need 4 to make it work).
Adults i had 6 + 6 (two separate classes per week), but with cancelations ended up with 4 + 6, for now (2 other are pondering commitment).

fees - varies per area i suppose, and what's included.
i do $30/2hour session/person, supplies included (oil painting).
