Sculpture that actually means something.

I saw this when it was put into place and was so impressed with both the artist and the message of the art. It seems topical after seeing Koon's elongated apples.

That is very impressive, especially at 27 feet tall!

I like the sculpture, but not the message.

Good people don't hurt other people regardless of what kind of tools they might own. Take away all the knives, the baddies will find some other tool to hurt people with. It isn't a knife problem it is a people problem.

It is the same with them trying to take guns away here. We've been right in the middle of deer season with thousands of men and women running around in the woods with guns and not a single mass shooting.

From the photos, I cant reall say I like it, either aesthetically or symbolically. It strikes me as a dark, gothic reminder of how far our Western culture has decayed. I don't see any glimmer of redemption or comfort, only knives pointing the way to ever more conflict and slaughter.

Perhaps I would have a different reaction were I to see it in person. At Hiroshima I had a completely different and unexpected reaction from what I was expecting to the site of the atomic bomb blast that destroyed the city. So I will keep my mind slightly open.

From the photo it looks really impressive, topical and yes dark. A stark message and one that will hopefully make peple think

I think it is impressive in a disturbing way. In the 'flesh' it must be overwhelming but it is too dark and negative.

I don't think I'm getting the intended message. It looks like an angel of death, not an angel of peace. Cool sculpture tho.

Re: Sculpture that actually means something.

It has got people talking and that is all it need to do it has been memoreable ..whether or not the intended message of the artist has been lost or not does not matter I do not think as the very fact that people are talking about such an issue and actualy feeling something is in itself a victory.Reminds me of "piss Christ" the photo there got a lot of people talking and many did not get it but they did feel something disgust or just "eew" lol but the fact is he did get his message across because people were talking about it and feeling strong reactions which was in one way the point ( to feel and engage with the awfulness of Christs death and the bodily fluids that came out) I am not here to bible bash it is just a example of what is happening here .
