Lioness WIP

I am working on a Lioness in acrylics on canvas panel. It is slow going as I am only getting time to work on it between other current works. Photo reference for this one obtained from Dio Raven at PMP.

Here are a couple of photos of my progress so far. Will pop back again with an update when I can …

The fur is beautifully rendered. I love the colours.

Re: Lioness WIP

Thank you Kay
Windspirit - Lions are so beautiful, they are a favourite of mine, thank you!

Here is another update. I've been working on the left side and her left ear ...

and her left eye area, but still need to do some more shaping and layering. Once I start adding pink to her nose I might wash some pink through her fur too, maybe.

Re: Lioness WIP

Thank you so much Christel, Merriweather, Robert and Chammi I like to paint realistically but also have it painterly too. I have done another layer on her eyes, especially the right one it needed more depth and I think it looks better now. May still fiddle a bit more with them as I go along.

Here is a closeup crop of the eyes and the fur strokes, will still do some more layering on the nose. Using a round brush for all the fur, number 2 round for thinner hairs and number 8 for thickening. For blocking in and washes a number 6 filbert and number 10
