Re: Notorious Wild West Outlaws Challenge

I'm going to sketch some lady outlaws up in here, but to bide me some time, here's an old drawing I did on art board using graphite, Mars black acrylic and Titanium white acrylic with a digital clean up.

The subject matter is JULIE NEWMAR as the killer Apache, Hesh Ke, who was part of a gang of outlaws who captured Gregory Peck and forced him to take them to the lost valley where there was a HUGE vein of gold. The movie was MCKENNA'S GOLD and despite being one of the worst big budgeted Hollywood westerns ever made, it was fun to sit through.

Thanks, all y'all.

Kay, I love Clint Eastwood, too. You sure captured the look in his eyes and gesture.

Woody, love your Apache woman. I'm smiling.

Re: Notorious Wild West Outlaws Challenge

Thanks much!

I'm enjoying Hesh Ke aka Julie Newmar in your depiction of her. If I recall, she is/was a very large and tall woman. I remember that movie, too. This is very dramatic in the black and white, Woody!

My next one will be John Wesley Hardin, another Texas outlaw. But first I have to gesso some pages.

Rose Dunn, also known as Rose of Cimarron, was best known for her good looks and her romantic involvement with outlaw George "Bittercreek" Newcomb at the age of 14 or 15. Later on she married a local politician and lived a respectful life.

Re: Notorious Wild West Outlaws Challenge

Wow, Christel, she looks so real holding that revolver! I love your statement about marrying a politician and the respectful life that goes with it, LOL! Not ever heard of her.

Ron, you can still do your version of Josey Wales.

Christel, that is a great choice. You did a wonderful job with oil pastels. Wow! My kind of gal, have a good time, then settle down. Heh, heh.

Re: Notorious Wild West Outlaws Challenge

John Wesley Hardin 1853-1895. A native Texan, this rugged outlaw was born in Bonham and died in El Paso at age 42. He bragged he killed 21 men from 1868-1877 on the wild Texas frontier and was known as the "Dark Angel of Texas". Charcoal sketch in my junk/grunge journal over gessoed page; Tim Holtz distress antique ink applied around edges.
