Charlotte's Sunflower Revisited

This new photograph reflects the background changes I have made per Phranque's suggestions; i.e. red into the blue and blue into the red - I hope I have accomplished what she envisioned the results to be - I feel that it has most definitely added a new dimension to the painting - ( Still cannot seem to get this photography thing down yet- Maybe some day )- Will appreciate all C & C - Thanks

P. S. - If you do not think these changes enhance the painting, please let me know - I can always revisit the easel - Thank you

Re: Charlotte's Sunflower Revisited

The development looks good.

The lower area of the background looks more organic. Like somewhere a Sunflower would grow.

Backgrounds are not easy choices for me in paint.

Best wishes.....

Re: Charlotte's Sunflower Revisited

Ok, I feel a little foolish. I didn't see where you posted a second thread with further development. Comparing the two photos...from "Charlotte's Sunflower" and "Charlotte's Sunflower Revisited"...I prefer the latter...Revisited. Colors seem richer and more dramatic...background looks more interesting. Maybe I'm just seeing things though based on different photos? And, lol, what do I know, lol, I really still a student. Nice job. Cheers!

Re: Charlotte's Sunflower Revisited

Geoff - Thanks so much for your comments - I am most flattered - Glad you like the painting - I have always felt that van Gogh gave the world a new way of looking at nature with exploding color - There was a genius in his eye, that I feel, will never be duplicated again - He remains at the top of my list of painters I admire - Yes, this photography thing is most difficult for me - Can't seem to get the hang of yet -
