Late Snow W.I.P. (xpost in Landscapes)

Last week we had an unusually late and record snow storm - 5-7" Which I know is not much, but for Corvallis, Oregon it is! It made for some great scenes. This is a WIP I started last night. I plan to work another 1 or two sessions - bring out the billows in the snow and the interesting pattern in the field, refine the reflections. C&C welcome. 18" x 24" acrylic on canvas.

I have W.I.P. stages in Landscapes

Quite wonderful. Feels cold but not icy cold. Great color. Like the composition as well.

Will like to see updates. I like what you are doing with the orange cloud reflections, better than what is in the photo. However, the photo has 3 distances - the close snow, the far trees and the really far trees. You have made the far trees and really far trees the same value in the painting, which has flattened it some - it only has 2 distances. I would lighten/make more blue-grey the farthest trees to be close to the mountain on the right, to get this 3rd distance back into your painting.

I like what you've done so far. It looks like a cold and lonely place!

Next stage - 1 more to go at least Again, more WIP in Landscapes. I took Allison's advice and lightened up the trees on the left. Had some troule in getting the hue. Still not sure if purple is what I wanted. The glare hides the color. C&C welcome

Very cold - making me feel colder than I already am this morning!

It's shaping up really well and that detail would make a painting on its own!
