I have 6 of these pastels. Diameter is just over 1cm, and they are in a wind up hard case. Has anyone used these? They are very slick, and I’m wondering how they compare to Senns, or similar.

Have done www searches, but can’t find a stockist. Any ideas here would be great.

Wow, they look interesting! Are they oil based pastels?

I don’t think Faber Castell actually make these any more. The closest they have on their website are Gelatos (https://www.faber-castell.co.uk/products/gelatos?itemsPerPage=9) but these are soft pastels in a watersoluble binder.

Hi Sarah, I’ll look on them and let you know. They feel like they are. Very slick, smooth and high colour.

Thanks SarahY, I had done some serious searching but could find no reference to them. I’ll check the link.

Not sure what ‘gelato’ are. Don’t recall it on the sticks but will have another look.

The do feel a bit like gelato though. Have you used them?

Now that I know a little more … does anyone use Gelatos? For anything.

I’ve uses some gelato crayons along with my neocolor II in my sketchbook for mixed media. Usually with water and combined with pen/ink. Never used them in an actual painting though.

I am still playing with the gelato crayons, will try them with water and pen/ink. I am still undecided on their value, and usually use them in my sketchbook only
