I finished this not-so-little fella recently and wanted to share. The pose has a friendly greeting quality which I thought would make for an engaging paper sculpture.

”Hello!”
Specifications: 24″ x 18″ mixed media paper sculpture
Cardstock and foam core for the armature
Prismacolor pencil on Mi-Teintes paper for the feathers
Art and scrapbooking paper for the background

Hi Rob. This is, as usual, simply stunning! He does have a friendly, engaging pose and expression. The details in the beak are wonderful, and those feathers are amazing. Well done!

This is wonderful. I love the detail in all those feathers and I really like how you’ve framed him too. Thanks for posting this in our forum. :)

Amazing. What a wonderful creation. He looks so real!

How did you create him? Do you colour each piece of paper that makes up his feathers, etc?

Sorry I haven’t been around to post my gratitude for your comments. :)

Schuee ~ the paper sculpture begins with a card stock armature which serves as a 3 dimensional support for the feathers and other colored elements. Each feather is then colored, cut out, molded to a slight curve and then glued to the armature. Extremely time consuming but the end result (especially when viewed in person) is well worth it. :)

Thank you all again!
