I use Gloves in a Bottle all the time, including when I am doing acrylics. It not only softens my hands but protects it from the dry pastels and makes it easier to wash the pastels and acrylic paint off my hands.

That being said I use my pan pastels more than my sticks because I like the way they move and you get more pastel that last longer for your buck. But I will still use my sticks for things in a pan pastel painting.
