Abstract #5... WIP - Pointilorganisms

Well today is the last day I am flying solo at home as for the last 5 days my lovely bride was down at Quiltcon in Texas. I miss her dearly but I must say it has been nothing but amazing having to do nothing but paint for these 5 days! My goal was to do a painting a day and I have achieved that for the most part other than needing to finish two of the pieces I started. I did paint for most of the day, every day though and I have never been able to do that before. It feels so wonderful I cannot even explain!

Anyhow, here is my newest piece. It is a 9x12 in oils on canvas board done in the method that must appeal to masochist painters only... Pointilism! I am cross eyed now lol! I am still thinking about how I want to take it from here, but for day one I am pretty happy! I hope you all enjoy it but please, C&C with honesty please. I am growing and I am valuing every bodies input here immensely! You are all such a fantastic group and your encouragements and help is nothing short of phenomenal. I can’t believe I never used to look twice at doing abstract! I have literally become all consumed! Thanks all!

Oh, look closely at the second picture... I had an audience!

Definitely you enjoyed your time alone to paint. Pure bliss! Even the doe in the cold snow who photo-bombed you was a great little audience.

Re: Abstract #5... WIP - Pointilorganisms

I guess something that might interest you is "negative spaces" if you google that to do with art. It must be something to do with the pointillism method as whenever I view your work such as this it seems to pulsate like it's alive like little organic organisms all moving about...It seems difficult to comment sometimes because you can not tell someone what to do but at the same time we can all grow from each others input. So all I would suggest is looking into things like weight in composition that's a whole can of worms and should keep you buisy ..mind you you can take or leave it..

Something that did occur to me also why your work is so very interesting is that you are mixing different styles together or that of pointillism and your own..There is an artist called Lynda Benglis 1969 who liked to mix it up a bit like this, she might be of interest to you.

Thanks tidal! I absolutely appreciate any conversation about any and all works. The only way to grow is to experience things through both introspection as well as through the eyes of others!

Feels like code for LOVE. Really enjoy the pointillism and especially your color combos. The deer is looking for a handout!
