Last Day Range Rd...sunset

Well...this little study is done for now... 6"x 9" oil on cardstock. Leaving it in its more natural abstract state...as experiencing a sunset like this, far enough back in the forests seems to just have a surreal abstract other world feeling. I'll look at it for awhile...taped to the side of my bookshelf...but as an oil study, time to move on and start another. But...that said, I need some time now in the woods!!!

*including an image that would represent stepping back a few paces, where all my work, well...is intended to work...

Well now, that is nice, and different. I like the minimal strokes, beautiful work.

A 6x9 that looks more like it would be a 9x12. Very nicely done, particularly for the size. If you wouldn't mind sharing I would like to know the brushes you used for this one.

I think for art to be successful, it needs to depict not only how something looks. But how something feels. I think this is successful.

Thanks everyone...and I think part of seeing for an artist over time, one's lifetime lends itself to interject feeling as part of seeing.

---

Thanks...I paint with Rosemary brushes...their Ivory brand, made in the UK, I use the largest brush comfortable until I can use it no longer before going to next smaller. A half inch flat, then (for this 6"x 9") 1/4" filbert and a little #2 round. I don't require the smaller round as might be thought because I make use of the edges of larger paint knifes to run my larger brushes along to create linear marks or tight ones.

After so many years, style seems inescapable. Glad it seems to be working for me

Thanks
