Re: Fantasy and Sci-Fi Art Monthly Challenge and Chat! December 2017

Oh I loved ribbon candies when they were fresh but dusty, no way! I can still get them at our commissary (grocery store on a military base).

I have the urge to paint and paint and paint but I have a bunch of stuff to finish up first. I did finally get our tree up, woo hoo.

My son had an advent calendar with magnets for the fridge for each day. He's allergic to chocolate and the store bought ones always had chocolate in them. The baskets are so clever, you could put little cars and things in each one and change it up. I like that!

Re: Fantasy and Sci-Fi Art Monthly Challenge and Chat! December 2017

The ones we were offered were always dusty and stuck together and had no particular taste but corn syrup. I can still remember being offered those candies by elderly females (younger than I am now, doubtless ) and prying them apart, looking for something that would go down in a single bite. Ick!

Our Advent calendar has chocolates small enough to fit in the postage-stamp-sized enclosures. I never get any, Susie is always there at the crack of bloody dawn

lol Bill. Maybe you need two advent calendars. We've had that kind and I liked seeing what little picture was on the chocolate each day, but they really didn't taste that great. A lot of them may contain peanuts so that's why I'm making one so I can put different kinds of chocolates in it and maybe other little things.

I have one that I made to keep track of the days in December, they always slip by. It's just cardboard with pieces cut out that I can flip over. I was inspired by the one in National Lampoons Christmas but something like that was way beyond my skill.

First I did it with cheap coloured pencils and then one year painted over it with acrylic. I'll show you the before and after, which also shows the before and after the windows are flipped.

I saw an advent calendar with yarn in it. I wonder if there are some with art supplies.

19 days until Christmas eve!

Great Advent Calendar!
Lots of work in that, very pretty.
I want to see the new one when you get it made, I don't care what month it is when you finish, please show us.

That's nice Bill.

lol Dianna. My son told me yesterday that it's ok if I get done for next year. It took me a few hours just to cut out the drawers. Still have to glue them together. Then I want to cover them with some nice scrapbooking paper but I don't have anything Christmasy and no craft stores near by. I do have some nice paper, not as bright as I was picturing, but maybe it would work. Then I have all kinds of stickers and stuff to embellish with.

Attalus, did you get that snow where you are?

My Texan friends son is 15, first time he's seen snow in real life, he was over the moon yesterday.

No, praise the Lord. Susie always gets in a bad mood when it snows, and that casts shadows on mine. She will have a cold, dry road in the morning and I will fill her little tummy with a warm breakfast before she leaves. It's the least I can do.

Oh, expect a mailer in a few days. There will be a legal pad cardboard in it, and a picture of mine.

It is crazy. I live near Dallas, and I was baffle it snowed in Houston!

I made a "scifi" soap this week for my son. So I am going to post it here

Is scented with dragon's blood fragrance, and I call them fire and ice. They did not come exactly as I was hoping, but they are close.

Red face Re: Fantasy and Sci-Fi Art Monthly Challenge and Chat! December 2017

Nice soaps. I wouldn't dare use one. Wash my hands in cold water and dry them on my pants, like I do at parties at rich people's houses.
Quote:
Sangre De Grado, meaning "blood of the dragon", is a tree that grows in the Amazon Rainforest. When the trunk of the tree is cut or wounded, a dark red, sappy resin oozes out as if the tree is bleeding. Often used in rituals for energy, power and strength, this highly complex oil has hints of frankincense and red sandalwood.
I also got defs that included patchouli, amber, and vanilla. Mr. Google is confuzzled

The elf face expression is absolutely perfect! Joy and mischief together!

To me dragon's blood kind of smells like incidence. For some reason a lot of people like it.

The one I used infused with cedar wood, orange and patchouli essential oils.

Thanks, SunFace. That pretty well describes Susie.
