Re: As the Oily Rag Burns.... November 2017

Becca, you have such a gorgeous view where you live!

I just got a 50% off coupon from a local art shop today, so I'll go out Friday and see if I can find a nice large canvas there. I do have a lot of canvas I haven't used yet, but this shop has such great canvas, and they only have this sale once a year... I think about a 15x20 would be good size for me, too, Annie.

Marcia, I don't know about my cats getting me up that early. All three of the lazy beasts are asleep on my bed when I finally wake up. I do envy you for having a great new space to paint!

I had so much energy Monday after water aerobics, and the same thing happened today! I'm definitely on the mend! I told our instructor this morning that it was all her fault!

I love giving credit where credit is so well earned.

Re: As the Oily Rag Burns.... November 2017

Good Morning Oilycats!!!

Nancy, thank you! when I get it set up, I will post a pic or 2.
Such good news on the health front! I got my bike moved a couple of days ago, and looking forward to using it again. And there is a beautiful area to walk around in right outside my door. I could use some of that physical energy that exercise brings.

There is no such thing as too many canvai. My local store has a 60% off sale thos week, the only way I can afford a big one, and I am going for it.

Re: As the Oily Rag Burns.... November 2017

I spent a couple hours this morning setting up my painting space. I am trying to figure out a way to make those two hideous table lamps go away. The Freds love them, and the candle dresser thinks they are necessary for her to have enough light to work at night. Actually I would like to see everything to the right of the couch disappear, it is more books and some junk.

The rest of the day I spent doing more cleaning.

It will make the view more precious when it finally clears.

Apart from having to share the space, the new studio is plenty roomy, it is the unnecessary clutter next to my easel that makes it seem cramped. Fred 1 is coming for a 10 day visit tonight, hopefully he will like what we have done with the place so far, and we can figure out what to do with the pile of crap next to the couch. There are 2 3-shelf bookcases loaded with books, a box of books that the candle dresser is tasked with putting on the wall shelves but too busy to get around to, a gallon sized plastic jar with I don't know what in it, but it looks like trash to me, and random stuff, like an owners manual and lube sheets for a paper shredder.

I don't mind 'purposeful' clutter, like the stuff needed to prep the candles. There is even great potential for some still lifes.

Re: As the Oily Rag Burns.... November 2017

Happy Caturday to all of you, too!

Lovely pics, Marcia, and thanks for the birthday cats! Really sweet! I went to my favorite pet store today to get some advice for my kitties, who keep barfing all over the rugs and tile (at least the tile isn't that hard to clean!). I now think it's my youngest cat, who is male and very aggressive. The lady I talked to at the store says she thinks it's because I feed them all at once in the kitchen, which makes them eat too fast. Sunshine is so aggressive that they eat too fast and end up throwing up. And, of course, he might be doing it for the same reason! So tonight's feeding is going to be in closed doors: my bedroom, the spare bedroom and the bathroom. I'll leave each cat in the rooms for about a half hour and see what happens.

Becca, it does look a little dull there, but soon you'll be touring!!! so good luck!

Beccs, I don't feed them until 10, so I think I've got it planned out fairly well.

Marcia, I forgot to mention your painting in the middle of the clutter: it's so lovely it makes up for all the clutter!

Re: As the Oily Rag Burns.... November 2017

Becca, even your gray view is lovely.

Marcia, Good morning and wishes for a splendid day to you too! I agree with Nancy about the painting - it looks terrific, and makes me want to see the painting at a larger scale than in your photo. It's looks like it's something from a photo from one of the first hikes you mentioned, right? I hope you'll let us know when you finish - please post it.

Nancy, that makes sense as a reason for your cats barfing. They do that when they eat very quickly, which is exactly what they'd do if there was competition for the food. Does the separation cure seem to be working?

Life goes on on my end. I seem to be constantly tired, which makes it hard to catch up, which in turn is part of what makes me constantly tired. I'm hoping it's just the change of seasons to the dark days.
