Vanity, Yes, Yes! Just do it!
If you don't try you'll never know.
Besides you may forget what you wanted to do.
I know I have ideas I've forgotten, or the other type of idea that won't leave you alone until you do it.
Besides now you made us curious and you have to do it!

Red face Re: Fantasy and Sci-Fi Art Monthly Challenge and Chat! October 2017

YES! I actually shook myself free from my succubus of a painting and worked on the Challenge. I have the main figures down, and all I need is "more layers" as the nice ladies on the CP Forum keep telling me.
Oh, yeah, the background. Susie saw it while I was working and I got up from my worktable to talk to her, and she said, "Why don't you finish it, now?"
I answered that it wasn't due till the 24th and it gives me the heebie-jeebies to have a project done and sitting around until the due date.
"How about the background? That should be fun," said she, knowing I abhor backgrounds.
"If it is so fun, why don't you do it yourself?"
And so, Heaven help us, she has agreed to do the background, and has taken to calling herself "my apprentice."

I can't wait to see! Vanity I hope you do draw yours too!

Michelle, I had turkey carmelitas tonight. It was wild turkey so it tastes a little different than farm raised. On Monday, I'm going to be doing a proper English style beef roast with Yorkshire puddings, my iron is very low apparently. I figure that's a good enough excuse for a roast beef!

I did my idea in my sketch book and it has some angles. I measured it all and drew it up on my drafting table... then I spilt tea all over it so I had to redo it. At least I hadn't put any paint on it yet! But oh I was so mad at myself for that.

We were supposed to go to a Renaissance Fair today but it was windy and rainy. It'll be open tomorrow too so hopefully the weather is decent for them.

Virginia, that is so provoking to spill stuff on your work! I had it happen to me, too, working on my succubus painting. I was painting oh so delicately the bodice of her dress, and somehow I slung some green on her carefully blended right arm! I said some bad words.

Thanks for all your encouraging words, looking forward to see your scary stuff as well If I want it to be at least decent, I need to start today, basically :/

Virginia, Bill ; yeah, it really sucks when accidents like that happen, been there done that. But I also lost a piece that took a very long time to finish in a very unusual way; I left it on my desk and, shortly afterwards, it turned out that my upstairs neighbour flooded his apartment. Good times

Re: Fantasy and Sci-Fi Art Monthly Challenge and Chat! October 2017

I have good news...well for me it is!
Remember back at the end of April when many, many bridges were washed away, including Hammond Camp Bridge (my way to work). Well it is finally rebuilt, bigger, and better (with five supports instead of two) and I am able to travel that way to work again!
Does Happy Dance!!!!
It still looks terrible, downed trees and washed up stuff as far as you can see. Nature will claim it all back, but it will take many years.

Re: Fantasy and Sci-Fi Art Monthly Challenge and Chat! October 2017

Well nothing was unintentionally blown up this weekend. And yes, we do it outside with a propane turkey cooker. And my husband went to "turkey school" so he knows what he's doing lol. (Don't ask, we have weird friends.) His family, my parents, and a few friends came. There was karaoke. I had to be the party pooper and tell everyone to be quiet at 3:30am. But that was because our son kept waking up and was getting really upset. Other than that it was a good time.

Hey Bill, I dare you to wait until the 23rd to start next month. That would prevent the impatient waiting for the reveal day.

Does Susie paint or draw much?

Virginia, what are turkey carmelitas? Too bad about the tea spill. I guess it didn't make a good underpainting? lol

I only have a basic idea of what I'm doing for this. I was working on something which I posted in digital. And maybe the acrylic challenge will be next.

Yay for the new bridge Dianna!

Congrats on your new bridge, Dianna. Louisiana looks like that after a hurricane, but LA is always dreary till you hit New Orleans (IMHO)
Michelle, she has been doing some if only in a spirit of rivalry. I will have to post the head of a girl she did (from the cover of one of my books) one of these days. She was hard at work last night on my Hallowe'en entry. Heh, she has already put her signature on it. I'll sign above it when I am done. Too late for this month, though I might attempt anther when I get my current projects off the board.

Re: Fantasy and Sci-Fi Art Monthly Challenge and Chat! October 2017

My chiropractor wanted to see something I had done artistically so I brought my unframed ZOMBIE GIRL to his office last week for my visit. "Why is she so skinny?" he asked. "She's the living dead, Paul," I answered. "They don't process protein that well." He was amazed that I got the underpinning bone structure correct. I had to remind him that I have been a professional illustrator for over four decades....it's what I do. This piece was done for a collection of zombie paintings and drawings by various artists for THE ZOMBOOK, a huge, hardbacked coffee table book published some years ago. My artwork was begun in colored pencils with watered down acrylics washed over that for the final look. (She has a winning smile....)

This is small potatoes compared to what I'm doing for this month's challenge.....
