WIP- Another centaur!

I'm just getting started on this fun farm lire scene. This is 14 X 18 oils on panel.. here are preliminary drawings and the first bits of under painting. Long way to go on this!

It must be a blast doing pieces like this; takes some of the tension out of the day - Really great work

Hi again Kerry! The sky & clouds are a good start in the painting! Mr. Mc Shire looks like he has more than 150 Acres! Must be a rich man compared to his neighbors in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee! Circa 1910 He must like to farm for his Family & many cousins. His Home & Barn should look rundown from generations of Mc Shires! ***Ample "Annie" was a Space Alien Orphan taken in years ago by Orville Mc Shire after her Parents were killed. Childless Mama Ellie Mc Shire finally had a daughter she could raise and nurture! Little Annie was playing & exploring the Forest area when her Parents told her to wait for them. They went to check/repair their space ship. It was hit by a small meteorite when they approached Earth. They had to make an emergency landing. It exploded suddenly with them inside! Before that happened they had set up a Homing Beacon for a rescue. It might take years. "Annie was alone for the 1st time in her life!" Good thing Mr. Mc Shire heard her crying from far off! Ten years later we have this Family Scene! chiron22--Don Kephart

Re: WIP- Another centaur!

Lol! Thanks Don! That's quite a story and I love her name ... Ample Annie! I'll see if I can't make her live up to her name! it has been a hectic week and I just didn't get much time on this as I'd planned. I painted trees today ... twice! It seems I forgot which direction the sun was shining so I had to move all th shadows to the other side! Just worked this corner ... The trees - lots of happy little trees- the barn and yard area.

Hi Kerry! Hello again AllisonR and Alan P. in OC! Love you followers commenting on Kerry's Tutorials! Yes, the background is coming into focus very nicely! A nice garden behind the house and a small Apple Orchard right of the Barn! ***"Annie loves Apples! Don't know why! Mama Ellie is getting older & has rheumatism in her back & legs so Annie gave her a ride all the way out here! Along with all the other items you see on her & the ground! She IS a sweet dear thing! And half full grown! Only 13 years old. Soon the main characters will be filled out & defined! Take care, you all! Sincerely, chiron22--Don Kephart

Re: WIP- Another centaur!

Hi Allen ... glad to see you visiting my thread!

Thank you Don for filling everyone in on your characters. A.A. is a very well endowed centaur filly! lol!

I spent the day dotting around all over this painting. It's definitely in the ugly stages ... even the background is unfinished. I might repaint the sky as I'm not too happy with my clouds. I want to get everything else caught up first so I can see where I need to work more on ... everything!

Dear Kerry! John the Mule is beautifully done! It is a delight when we see a finished character or part of one of your painting tutorials! John looks mid-age & strong. Must have 10 or more years to help the Family with the Farm! The Harness & tack look very fine also! Keep on doing this fabulous creating in your style, Kerry! Every one who sees it, loves it! Till the next update, stay Healthy & Happy everyone! chiron22--Don K.
