Working “alla prima” is something that I have missed in recent months. The messiness of it is fun. I decided to revisit a painting that I tried before, probably not for the last time. It is a little hard to photograph as light reflects off the high points on the paint. C&C Welcome Gary

I like the feeling of warmth, particularly during one of the coldest weeks we’ve had all winter!

Beautiful. I love the brushstrokes in the tree as well as the clouds. Thank you for posting.

What a wonderful sense of sunlight in this one, Gary! Your lively brushstrokes add a real feeling of life to the trees and I especially like how you connected them over the road.

Thanks Lucy. It was an enjoyable exercise.

Thanks Tom. It is best to paint Summer pictures in Winter and Winter pictures in Summer. Seasons always seem more appealing in their opposite.

Thanks Chaithram. May Darkness lead me to Light. I only wish it were true.

Thanks Donna. I painted over a wet underpainting sketch of Transparent Red Oxide. That forces the use of opaque, juicy paint. It is a good effect.

            Thanks again to all. Gary

The light in this paintings is just so warm – beautiful, as is all your paintings!

It is a little hard to photograph as light reflects off the high points on the paint.

That drives me batty! If you ever figure out how to defeat that I wanna know!
I love the way we are drawn into the scene by your composition, and the warmth of the light. Another winner.

                    Thanks Ann.

Thanks Wendy. I love country roads; they make for great compositions.

Thanks Derek. Juicy paint is fun for a change.

What a sunny and happy world your paintings invite us into. I feel like getting my bicycle out and to travel down that lovely country lane. Warm sunlight and such a lovely painting Gary.

Excellent brushwork Gary! I absolutely love the way you painted the clouds in this one and your variation in greens is fantastic.

Thanks Caroline. The sunshine makes it so much easier to show form.

                                    Thanks Ginny.

Thanks Wes. I must admit that I am not happy with the clouds. The approach is alright but the shapes seem meh.

Thanks Lisa. I do enjoy plastering on the paint.

                                    Thanks Gary
