Re: Favorite Landscape Paintings and or Artist

Dwayne can attest to this I'm sure... Bob White is probably the most popular with me. Super nice guy, fellow flyfisher, and his paintings are everything I'm about. I can look at his stuff and put myself on the stream, with a good bird dog, or casting a fly in all his work.

Oh yeah, he's a great guy. His work really got me into painting. Since then I have found others that I really like, but I still study his work the most.

Sorry, but I bumped this up so I wouldn't have to keep searching for it while I study. Sure wish it could be stuck up at the top.

well here is a great genius not on here, you won't be sorry you spent 7 mins watching this.

Carlos de Haes, Spanish 1829 -1898 single handedly got the Spanish painters outside the studio, did almost all of his work even big ones on site.

Re: Favorite Landscape Paintings and or Artist

I still love this thread.
A few more to add:
I don't think anyone mentioned Sanford Robinson Gifford. Photos truly do not do his work justice. Each time I have viewed one of his paintings I have been drawn to it.
I just discovered William Bliss Baker recently and I am so glad I did. Unfortunately, he died prematurely at the age of 27 (in the 1800's). Sad story.
Fallen Monarchs, Woodland Brook, Morning after Snow, and Autumn Woods and Pasture are some beautiful examples of his work.
Jennifer McChristian is a fantastic artist.
http://jennifermcchristian.com/
John Felsing has some beautiful and moody work.
http://www.johnfelsing.net
Cathedral is one of many stunning paintings by Felsing.

By the way, for those who don't know, this thread is under the sticky titled, "Hall of Fame- Most Helpful/Useful threads."

I definitely hope this thread continues...

sound....Nagy Tibor...I'll second that emotion. Many of them put one into a dream state. On the border between chaos and order.
