I think I’m finished with this…12″x12″ oil pastel on canvas. Getting the values and the intensity of the colors right in this was tricky. Do you think it works? Comments and critiques welcome!

September 12, 2018 at 4:46 pm #692292This is so beautiful! The eye is outstanding, and those feathers are packed with dimension. The confident, friendly expression on his face makes this whole painting come alive. I love this!

September 17, 2018 at 3:36 am #692298I think it works very well. I love the light on those feathers, they really glow. I like the colour choices for the background too, it really brings the bird forward.

That’s a great Facebook group – I find artists are generally exceptionally kind and encouraging people . . . Good job on this! Nice colors and I like the way you rendered him. I, too, did this one and I’m planning on it being my Christmas card this year. Keep up the great work!

www.leggioart.comSeptember 18, 2018 at 4:55 pm #692296The Cardinal is my state bird and I love seeing their bright colors in the woods when I am out hiking. We have many that come to our feeder in the winter months and they are always a cheerful sight to see.
Love this piece!
