Thanks for the PM and the photos Deb, Don't worry about the beard, think of it as a landscape. There's an idea, you could do me as one of those tree creatures from Tolkein!
I reckon it's a lot easier painting ugly than it is painting beautiful. LOL.
I am a bit behind and haven't done my photo yet but will be back in touch as soon as I have.

8 million kms away Wolfgang?
From what I remember of ujwala she is a bit "out of this world". LOL.
Let the fun begin.

I have just looked at Deb's posts and am very excited about this swap. I notice that by chance she has actually done some fantastic paintings of trees. I am thinking of sending an entwhistle type picture. What do you think Deb? This would be the first portrait swap of a tree!
Regards
Graham

I did the same thing as you did, bluewindfisher; but unfortunately my partner, Zealander has never posted a painting. Sounds like i get to help a beginner.

Mimi, if he gets stuck on uploading, I am more than happy to help. Brian (Zealander) and I get together one day a week and paint in my studio in Northam. I am excited to see what he comes up with.

Kevin, thanks for the time and effort in putting this together. When I got home from work, the very 1st thing I did was check to see if the pairings were up. I've definitely been looking forward to this.

Re: The 8th Annual WetCanvas Portrait Swap Pairings and W.I.P. thread!

Hi Graham I just got home and read your PMs

Thank you for the liking my trees. Yes I'd love to turn you into a tree I've only seen your self portraits but that beard would look awesome in moss! It might even start me on some kind of weird new direction where instead of people wanting their names in the trees, they want their face!!

I'll email you my photos now with a couple of others, which by coincidence were taken near my old willow tree, the main inspiration for my tree paintings.

Yes you can post my photo on here. My son kept saying smile and I kept saying "JUST TAKE THE PHOTO!!!" I don't like photos, hence the awkward face.

My kids said I was stalking you last night. I kept on showing them your gorgeous work. I've never had a painting or drawing of myself and I'm really excited to have you do it

DebX

P.S I think I already have a title for your tree portrait

In one swap Dollardays tried to turn me into a fish! So I reckon a tree is a definate improvement.

Thanks Deb. I have had a chance to look at even more of your work (including your blog) and I am really looking forward to seeing your magic at work.

Oh oh the intrigue starts. When our kids were younger I used to play a game of pestering them to find out what my present was going to be. They loved it.
So Debsie just a lil clue huh. I won't tell anyone. I promise.

I've sent Roy (Royc8) ten photos of me (eek!). I hope the shadow shapes are workable on some of them.

Okay here is a clue:

"Old and wise a trickster is he, hush.
Keep cover, for they scour nearby.
Sunlight betrays what is shrouded with time.
Maybe the hunt won’t like what they find."

Here is a question for all those that send paintings by mail. I would like to paint Grahams portrait a fair size maybe 18"X20" or bigger. I guess the best way to send it is by painting it on stretch canvas then rolling it up?
I haven't mailed paintings before, I'd prefer to use oils but worry if I do it in oils the four weeks won't allow time for the painting to be dry enough to roll? If you paint in oils how long before you would be comfortable rolling it?
If I use acrylics I worry about it cracking?
Any advice on painting and sending in the four week time frame? Have you had problems in years past?
Thanks for any advise .
