Moose Falls

Hello WC Friends, kiddos at home during the summer don't allow me much time at the easel but I managed to sneak this one in. We just got back from a great trip to Yellowstone and the Tetons. This is Moose Falls, the first little stop off after we entered Yellowstone. Oil on canvas, 16x20, C and C most welcome!

Re: Moose Falls

Wonderful action captured in that crashing water, Heather. The rocks & distant trees are well done also - Nicely Painted !

You really have painted the rushing water so beautifully Heather. I also like the trees and rocks. Sounds like you had a great trip away!

Re: Moose Falls

I thought the same as Ann: I can hear the noise of the falls against the silence of the landscape. Nice capture of the environment. Gary

Re: Moose Falls

There is a real feeling of movement, weight and power in that water. Very convincing.

Re: Moose Falls

Hi Michael, Bizzi, John, Caroline, Derek, CaliAnn, Gary, Harry, and Oldnmartists! Thanks so much for your lovely comments. This was the first waterfall stop and remained my favorite. There were others that were bigger, taller, more spectacular, but IMHO not as good as this one. Probably because it was off the beaten path and no crowds. We could just take our time and take it all in. It was the one I couldn't wait to paint first.

Re: Moose Falls

A better pic now that the foreground rock paint is dry and not catching glare:

Re: Moose Falls

Wow that extra contrast in the fg rock takes this painting to another level IMO. The distant trees appear lighter than the 1st image. Yet another improvement which helps with depth & directs attention to the crashing waterfall. Great Result Heather !

Michael.

Re: Moose Falls

Thanks Michael, I need to be restrained and let the paint dry a little before I try to take pics. Thanks Dorrart!
