It is actually the beginning of the poem "How do I love you? Let me count the ways."

Re: Scavenger Hunt #591 - June 13 - 21

This afternoon, I super speed sketch Miss Iris wearing a kimono (given to me a few years ago by our workplace Japanese volunteer's wife). We have trouble putting the kimono on properly...especially the front part. Putting on this kimono took us 20 minutes ... sketching took me 10 minutes (as I don't want Miss Iris to feel uncomfortable). Thank you Miss Iris for her patience.

PS. I am about to fly solo to get away at Songkhla Thailand for 5 days. I won't take any computer with me, just bring my simple cellphone. Thus, I probably cannot post anything here, until I return after June 26. Enjoy sketching.

#1 kimono ...

Ai - love the colors. What a beautiful gift. And share our thanks with Miss Iris for being a patient model and looking so pretty.

Safe trip.

Joe - great scale sketch. Would you recommend this scale? If so, what's the name and model #?

Ai - you're welcome

Ep - Brand name is Kitrics. It is a bit pricey ($43 on Amazon) but has lots of features besides switching oz to metric. It has a Tare feature so can put emprty plate or bowl press it and it rezero so only weigh the food. Main feature my wife wanted was nutrition and calories. You can code in what you weigh and it will give nutritional value of each item weighed and cancombine them as a meal. I do not use that feature much but love the Tare feature.

As to up north, we moved toFlorida from Virginia (5 years) Rhode Island (17) years. Originally from NYC but in military we lived in Illinois, Connecticut, California, and Hawaii as well before moving to RI.

Well everyone has been busy....

EP, nice work on the sketches and photo of khaki. Good find for the kilogram.

Joe, the little bear is so cute. Sweet. The scale is amazing. I should use one, but too lazy to count and measure. I rarely measure when I cook.

Joan, your direct sketch of Alan is so great. I love your kind of beans. Clever. The bear with carrot is so cute. The glass fish is great. I have a glass elephant, so hard to sketch, you did great. Also good find for kilogram.

Ai, I thought you might have a kimono. Thanks for sketching it and having Iris patiently model for you. I had no idea how complex to wear. Beautiful.

Yesterday morning on the porch I sketched our resident bunny digitally with Art Rage and my Apple Pencil. He/she moves too fast.
Today I sketched in the big book with a Prismacolor 01.

Number 5, kangaroo - sub rabbit for jumping animal
Number 6, kaput - the remnants of pottery and the neck of a glass bottle on the porch rail.
Number 7, key - some of Gene's trailer keys

Joe - thanks for the info on the scale and the list of all the lovely places you've lived. Such a wide variety!

Jo - thank you. What a cute bunny. Good find for the kaput. Yay for the keys. Is that "Texas" emblem on the key ring large? I ask because I've heard the phrase: everything's bigger in Texas.

Ha! It is a bit bigger than the keys as you see! My smile for today.

Joe — Yay!!! App sketches 😂 😍 Nice ellipses and package shaping! Love the studious/romantic bear. Very cool 🐾 The leaves of the book even seem turnable. Your graphite scale surprised me with its feeling of nostalgia, like it was almost a vintage work of art from a distant time that pre-dates even such an invention. Beautifully done. The list of places you've lived reads like a set of dream destinations!

EP — Thanks for the update pics! Lovely work 🌟 and your crocheted round is comforting. Also thanks for hosting an inspiring and fun event full of interest and friendship! I'm sorry I wasn't able to find a moment to sketch. I'll keep trying.

Joe & EP - Thanks. Alan was a good model. The joke of the day was that I told him I sketched him from the back because of his socks. If I sketched him from the front I would have had to sketch Van Gogh's portrait twice, because that was on the front of his socks. lol Here's what I mean.
