ARRRRGH. If nothing else I will resolve my "keep painting over it until it is mud" tendency.
I tried to approach it a little differently; I kept the white of the canvas, used a very dilute burnt umber to paint in just the basic shapes, with the intent of letting some of that background show thru.
I'm so frustrated. Just a bunch of blobs!

logan, I feel your pain. today didn't feel very good for me either. It is very frustrating if you want to paint something and it just won't come out like you want it. But hey, ... maybe near the end of this month

my rose is indeed facing away. you can only see the back. I'll show a picture of my setup tomorrow.

But yours is quite interesting, anyway!

I will try to figure out how to turn mine upright at least. The flowers.... they are blobs of paint, I guess I use too much paint. Wet on wet is hard.

Re: A Painting a Day Challenge! Plus some changes,,,

wet on wet is super hard!!!! It's very hard to work on contours, edges and if you make a mistake in color and try to correct it, it becomes a big big mess

it's morning here so after some drawing exercises for a course I'm taking I'll have another look at that rose and see if it has another painting in it.

blarkin Love that teabag.
logan the flowers don't look bad, they really stand out from the green and I like the perspective.

Great to see your work, Marie, Logan, blarkin, Dudd.

Logan, can't agree with you, those "blobs" are super---that's the way the Impressionists did it.

I really like that one, I'm always impressed by super loose paintings that are instantly recognizable.

Re: A Painting a Day Challenge! Plus some changes,,,

wow LGHumphrey there is quite some fire in your works

Well day 3 is coming to an end. I'm looking forward seeing some more people join in for the 3day challenge.

I opted again for the rose but decided to paint in my usual more layer like manner. The alla prima, one stroke with lots of juicy paint is just not working for me. After the disaster of yesterday I'm more pleased today.
I didn't have to fight the paint as much but its still far from what I would want it to be.

Going to hop in on the painting every 3 days with this one. I'm not happy with the lace, but I'm going to do more paintings with lace in it until I get more comfortable with it. I learned some from this one so I'm happy about that

Very nice Beth Now that I think of it, I wish I would have gotten some 6 x 8 panels for this! No problem though now that I think of it because I paint on paper a lot anyways, I can just paint on un mounted paper and then mount it if I really like it
