I had to paint fast. These don’t make good cut flowers, wilt and drop quickly, so
I included a couple of fallen blooms. And…it’s the last time I’ll use that weird colored table cloth in a still life.November 9, 2018 at 11:13 pm #725971Lovely violet blooms, and great job on the glass vase. Also like that you added the fallen blooms, nice touch!

The all atmosphere is quite nice.

Actually, I like the cloth, it’s a good choice for the rest of the comp and it’s really nicely painted – as are the glass bottle and the blooms.
Cheers, Maureen

Lucy, I didn’t include all the fallen blooms. Hard enough to chase the light.
Maria, I do strive to include the environment of any subject. The spaces around are important.
Maureen, Thank you, seems like a friendly forum. Glad you like the cloth, it is one element that I re- painted more than twice to get the Val-Hue.

I actually like the muted colors of the tablecloth, it really allows your eye to be drawn to the colourful flowers. Saying this, I wonder if the light greenish-yellow stripes (I think they are blinds) are a bit too prominent and eye catching?
I love how you included the blooms that fell off! I saw this flower whilst travelling, and when I went to sniff it half the flowers fell off! They must be so delicate.December 25, 2018 at 9:41 pm #725970Nice work Patrick; we have large patches of these right into the autumn.
