That's the nice thing about this thread, it allows any whimsical piece or any serious piece ... no judging! Pen sketching and doodling is so relaxing!😃

I quickly doodled a nose last night because I wanted to post it on the challenge thread saying, "I picked a nose!" and then decided that was in very poor taste and I owed it to everyone to be serious and stop picking noses!

Are these plein aire again?...... they're so fresh! Just my opinion, but I think I like the whiteness of the sky in #1 rather than the diagonal hatching in #2 !!!

Yes both these are on location sketches. Which means I'm trying to record a thought for a painting. You are right that I probably could have made a more interesting sky on the coastal sketch, but I wanted the waves on the shore to be there lightest shapes.

I like both very much and when I saw the first one especially like the minimal use of contour lines.
