Re: Scavenger Hunt #373 Aug 29 - Sep 6

Norma nice soft pretty flowers. I see you found some copper. It's always hard to put small stuff in a still life and be able to tell what they are.

Joan nice simple sketch with just the right amount of color.

Kivrin, nice combination sketch. The horse hooks like it's fun to manipulate and draw.

Robert, good job on the cup. I don't have a good spot to set up a still life and leave it there either. My studio is my dining room table!

Joan, nice scenes. I got a chuckle with your clock, that's going at it in a big way. I like your still life, nice shading on the pitcher.

EP, nice combination sketch. Like the color! Nice shading on the round objects on the right. Skintones...always a challenge.

Nice leaves and flower Norma. I struggle with landscapes too. Good work on the glass, you captured the transparent nature well. Nice Kachina doll too.

Here are some more from me. This is my attempt at the challenge. I didn't manage to combine them all but I did combine several. I ran into a problem with one the peaches though. I started this yesterday and when I checked this morning, the back peach was going bad and needed to go into the fridge. I had to paint fast.

5" x 7", micron pen and watercolor on Stonehenge

#4 Something yellow (banana)
#5 fruit (peaches)
#6 plate
#7 box (it's sitting on a box under the cloth
#8 gold (gold napkin draped over box)

Anne

Norma, love that pale green bowl! The cool color is lovely and you captured the thickness. The water glass is very bright and transparent. Pennies are very effective, I liked how you darkened one. Love the Tombow wooden kachina doll, so effective your use of those pens.

Joan, pretty still life with that bottle, cup and plate, fruit, pitcher and silver napkin ring. The layout is great and the bottle shines, love how you conveyed the liquid!

Anne, beautiful setup with the bananas and peaches on the plate on the gold napkin on the box. Itís well laid out and the way you arranged the napkin is elegant. I love te delicate lines and little hints of ink shading with the soft transitions of wet in wet color in the objects. Gorgeous work.

I don't have time to go back and comment on all the sketches. I have looked at them! We have company and have been running around. I did sketch a bit in between. I'll comment on my last page of your work.

Robert, I like the cup. It fits in my collection in a fine manner. Nice lines on it for sure.

Joan your outdoor sketches/paintings are just lovely. I like the one of the houses and "leaves". Your still life has some great objects and very good lines!

EP, your challenge is beautiful with such rich colors. Your additions to the sp are good.

Norma, I love pastels and your flower and leaves are great. Nice complementary colors. I need to try those Tombow pens. I like the watercolor look you achieved. Good cents! I like the Kachina doll, too.

Anne, your still life makes me want to eat a banana and we are out! Good job on the ink and watercolor. I like that a lot.

I, too, admire the sketchers that can set up and do the challenge. You all did a good job. I like to see that challenge, thanks, Jeanne, for doing it again. Yours if fun, too.

My sketches are in the regular sketchbook with Micron 05 pen and colored pencils.

Number 1, stuffed animal - sub Pia, Virginia's dog. We rarely have live animals so you get this one!
Number 2, flowers- asters, dandelions and bridal veil or whatever they are called.

Number 3, copper - a small lantern hanging in the window
Number 4, sculpture - at the Vietnam Memorial, he is writing a letter home

Photo of the sculpture, it is a beautiful memorial.

Number 5, green leaves
Number 6, yellow - the ribbons on the Aspens
Number 7, favorite rock - the rocks around the memorial, there is a fountain behind the trees (the pile of rocks)

Number 8, fruit

Wow... such a great fantastic set of sketches from everyone.

It is too bad that we have to help my sister prepare for her wedding tomorrow and I have no time to color in my previous line sketches.

Hope to see you in the next Hunt here

J: Thank you for hosting.

Thanks, "J", Jeanne for the great Hunt. Love the challenge, one of these days..........

Thank you, Robert. The memorial is such a special place.

Joan, your little ducky and grouping is so nice. Thank you, we rarely have plums but Gene's sister brought them.

Ai, see you on the next Hunt.

I got one more done. You can tell what was on my mind. Sketched in the same book with the same tools. What can I say?

Number 9, bottle
